1812 tomahawk pipes
Updated: Nov 25, 2022

1812 tomahawk pipes made by Contemporary Artist Iron John Logan:
Hand forged and filed iron pipe heads lined with leather gasket and fitted with removable hickory handle stems. Based on Tecumseh's pipe tomahawk in the Smithsonian collection, these smokeable pipes were a lot of fun to make - I worked hard to capture the texture and feel of the original weapon and got to play with a few new to me old techniques. A rethinking of an old idea, art of weapons. Hickory handles are drilled and pipes are functional, edges are reenactment blunt. Measurements are 18in by 7-1/2 with 2-1/4 edges
And a last look with a custom stand of reclaimed elm timber and brass armature
